Verda Minnie Pater, 91, formerly of Rural Dexter, Minn. died Monday morning, March 1, 2010 at the Our House Senior Living facility in Austin, where she had resided since 2005.
She was born July 27, 1918 in Matlock, Iowa to John Heimensen and Jennie (Heikens) Heimensen. She attended rural schools in the Matlock area through the eighth grade and was united in marriage to Arthur "Art" Pater on Aug. 19, 1936 at the church parsonage in Matlock. In 1945 they moved to the Dexter, MN area where they farmed until Arts' retirement. Verda was a homemaker and enjoyed making quilts for her grandchildren, crocheting, raising a meticulous garden and making cookies. She always kept a spotless home and made the best ham gravy. Verda was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dexter and a member of the church circle. She was also a member of the Monitor Neighbors.
She is survived by two children, Kae Pater of Surprise, Ariz. and Bob Pater and friend Rhonda Helfritz of Dexter; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2005; a daughter, Judy Koopal; three grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2010 at the United Methodist Church in Dexter, with the Rev. Karen Ashton officiating. Burial will take place in the Dexter Cemetery. Friends may call at the Hindt Funeral Home in Grand Meadow from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday and one hour prior to the service at the church.

Ze is overleefd door twee kinderen, Kae Pater uit Serprise, Arizona en Bob Pater en vriendin Rhonda Helfritz uit Dexter, zeven kleinkinderen, elf achterkleinkinderen en een achterachterkleinkind. Mrs. Elmer (Gertie) Walinga, daughter of Elbert and Reca Pater, was born March 9, 1921 at Sioux Centre, Iowa. She lived her youth on a farm Northeast of Matlock and attended Sheldon Country School.
She was married to Elmer Walinga of Sheldon, Iowa in 1955 at South Dakota. They lived in Sheldon area following their marriage.
She passed away at the Prairie View Retirement Home of Sanborn, Iowa, on Thursday, May 10, 1984 at the age of 63 years, 2 months, and 1 day.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer; two daughters, Mrs. Tom (Donna) Endorf of Sanborn, Iowa; Mrs. Ronald (Linda) Hameister of Lytton, Iowa; two sons Delmer Walinga of Alton, Iowa, Delbert Walinga of Sheldon, Iowa; Seven grandchildren, five brothers; Gerrit, Charlie, Art, and Herman of Minnesota, Tony of Washinton State, and two sisters; Mrs. Gerrit Plantage of Minnesota and Mrs. Ed Mc Mahon of Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Mrs. Marian Pater, (Wieringa), aged 61, passed away Wednesday at St. Mary's Hospital. She was the president of the GM Mixed Golf League and was presently a part time hostess at Mr. Fables on Leonard str.
Surviving are her husband, Mitchel J. Pater, one son, Paul (Nancy) Wieringa; three daughters, Sandy (Brad) VanWeelde,Joyce Wilson and Laura Wieringa.Three stepchidren, Michael, Patricia Ann and Timothy; Three grandchidren; Two sisters, Helen Barto and Stella Szymko; two brothers Joseph and Berhard Bartnick and several nieces and nephews.
A rosary service will be held on Friday at 7pm. The mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10pm at Holy Spiriy Church, interment Hoky Cross Cementry.

My aunt Gertie was the oldest child of the Gerrit Pater family. She was 3 years of age when the trip to America was made in 1909 with the Noordam. I can only imagine after traveling a few hundred miles with my grandchildren in the back seat with all of their modern electronic toys to keep them occupied what it must have been like to keep track of a 3-year-old, a 1½-year-old and a 6 month old baby on the trip to the U.S.
You have to realize that they were actually serving as ballast for the craft and traveled in the lowest part of the ship with the cattle and wagons. Something about those hardships must have remained in her mind over all of her years as evidenced by the life she led.
She led a simple life as a homemaker and was probably the most religious of all of the children. She also kept records of the family as to their births and marriages and deaths.
Mijn tante Gertie was het oudste kind van de Gerrit Pater familie. Ze was 3 jaar oud toen de trip in 1909 met de Noordam naar Amerika werd gemaakt. Ik kan alleen maar voorstellen na een reis van een paar honderd mijl met mijn kleinkinderen op de achterbank met al hun moderne elektronische speeltjes, die hen bezig te houden wat het moet zijn geweest, zoals het bijhouden van een 3-jarige, een 1½-jarige en een 6 maanden oude baby op de reis naar de VS. Je moet je realiseren dat ze eigenlijk dienden als ballast voor het schip en reisde in het laagste deel van het schip met het vee en wagens. Iets over deze ontberingen moeten al die jaren in haar gedachten zijn gebleven, zoals blijkt uit het leven dat ze leidde.
Ze leidde een eenvoudig leven als huisvrouw en was waarschijnlijk de meest religieuze van alle kinderen. Ze hield ook verslagen bij van de familie zoals hun geboorten en huwelijken en overlijdens. | Pater, Gerritje (I906)

MYRNA JESSIE HELEN (OHM) (PATER) BOE
Myrna Jessie Helen (Ohm) (Pater) Boe, 93, passed away on December 18, 2018 at Field Crest Care Center in Hayfield.
Myrna was born on September 24, 1925 in Eden Valley Township, Renville County, Sherwood, North Dakota the daughter of Henry and Ella (Revo) Ohm.
In 1938, at the age of 12, she moved with her family to Minnesota and lived in the Waltham and Hayfield areas. She graduated in 1943 from Hayfield High School. On November 6, 1943 she married S/Sgt. Gerhart (Ted) Pater and they lived in Staten Island, New York for a brief time, before returning to the Waltham area. On November 20, 1967 Ted passed away. On September 20, 1969 she married Philip Boe and they moved to Hayfield. Phil passed away June 4, 1998.
Myrna was active in her church and community, serving on the Hayfield Ambulance for 12 years, and worked at Citizens State Bank and also with Vernon and Czaplewski Family Funeral Homes. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, doing crafts, quilting and gardening. She enjoyed traveling, going to Colombia, South America with Jeaneen's family and to Europe several times to visit Joleen and her family, as well as visiting with children in various states. Most of all Myrna enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Myrna is survived by her five children, Larry (Carolyn) Pater of Champaign, IL; Jeaneen (Don) Wilhelmi of Minnetonka, MN; Lowell (Michaela) Pater of Corpus Christi, TX; Bradley (Joan) Pater of Hayfield, MN; Joleen Pater of Poynton, England; grandchildren, Derek Pater of San Jose, CA; Anna (Pablo) Palchizaca of Columbia Heights, MN; Nathan (Jessica) Wilhelmi of Rochester, MN; Katie (Gabe) Christenson, Rochester, MN; Rachel Stickland of Gex, France; Christopher Stickland of Poynton, England and five great-grandchildren; Isabelle, Zachary and Ryan Wilhelmi; Faith and Jace Christenson; three step great-grandchildren, Isaac, Madison and Hannah VanRavenhorst; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Ted and Phil, and sister, Esther Boysen.
Visitation will be 3:00-5:00 p.m. Saturday, December 22, 2018, at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home, 501 2nd Street NW in Hayfield with visitation one hour before the service at the church on Sunday. The funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 23, 2018, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 104 1st Street SE in Hayfield with Reverend Paul Hauschild officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield.
The family prefers memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church Banner Fund or the Hayfield Community Ambulance.
